My goal is to establish such a trusting rapport with my patient that no relevant detail is ever omitted by either of us. When a patient has faith that her physician understands that the road to recovery has many pitfalls that often cannot be avoided, she can then speak candidly about her daily experiences. Accurate information given by the patient to her non-judgmental “partner in recovery” is a powerful weapon against cancer’s threat to life.
