MIKALA EDWARDS, MPA, CTRS
Mikala is a young breast cancer survivor with over 4 years of patient navigation experience in Arizona. She earned her Masters of Public Administration from Grand Canyon University, where she focused on Healthcare Administration. Since her personal diagnosis, Mikala has been heavily involved in patient advocacy on both a state and national level.
Mikala started her navigation career with the former John C. Lincoln where she received the John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital Patient Advocacy award in 2013. She worked and completed a three-year CDC grant initiative focused on providing education, resources and support for young women with breast cancer through out the state of Arizona.
She holds a State Leader position with the Young Survival Coalition, and participates in the Arizona State Cancer Coalition’s Survivorship and Quality of Life Workgroup. In addition to her community advocacy roles in Arizona, Mikala also participates as a consumer reviewer for both national and international breast cancer research reviews.
In her spare time, Mikala enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her boyfriend and dogs. She also loves traveling whenever she has time.
